The Making of Orientated Strand Board

Suitability Grades 4-7

Without leaving their seats, students can journey to Fort Nelson, BC and watch how large aspen trees are harvested and transported to Canfor’s OSB mill where they are cut, soaked, chipped, dried, pressed into large sheets of oriented strand board and readied for shipment to markets around the world.

The Force of Fire (Primary)

Suitability Grades 1-3

Introduces young students to the concept of fire so that they understand what is needed to create fire, how animals and plants survive fire, how fire can be both good and bad and how we all can help prevent fires and protect our homes.

The Force of Fire (Intermediate)

Suitability Grades 4-7

This resource builds on the concepts outlined in the primary version and looks at the role fire plays in nature. Students will learn that fire, as a natural disturbance, has both positive and negative effects, understand the relationship between wildfire and the urban interface and learn methods on protecting their home and property from wildfire.
